UFO Challenge

The 2025 UFO Challenge is HERE!

It’s that time, once again, to start putting together your list for the next UFO Challenge!

I know we are on a bit of an “off” schedule, but with everything else we have going on, the New Year is a great time to start thinking about these things. This year’s form is a bit simplified. You can find it here in PDF and Word Doc.

What Is a UFO?

For the purpose of this challenge, the following UnFinished Objects are acceptable:

·      Quilts – Any size, from crib on up (we are, after all, a Quilt Guild…)

·      Quilted Goods like table runners, placemats (sets only,) wall hangings, and mini quilts.*

·      Bags that meet the definition of quilted (top, batting/Soft & Stable, backing)

·      Any Project from a Guild Workshop.

·      Also, Kits that are in your possession as of the start date (February 2025.)

*While I am not putting any size limitations on the UFO’s, I would wish that everyone used some logic and reasoning. We all do a variety of projects. I like smalls for palette cleansers between bigger or more involved projects, so I generally have a few laying around in various states of WIP-ness.

What do you need to do to participate?

·      You must be a Member in Good Standing (i.e. your dues are paid for the year.)

·      Make a list of all the WIPs and Kits you want to work on this year. (Yes, this can be a daunting and somewhat depressing task, but honestly it’s a good thing.)

·      Prioritize them. Make sure to include some small palette cleanser projects to keep you going.

·      Print out the UFO Challenge Form and fill it out. (Print out as many forms as you need, you only need to put your name on the first one.)

o   Name of Project – can be the name of the pattern or the name you assign it!

o   Start Date – This can be approximate. And don’t be ashamed, I will have 2 on my list that are more than 30 years old, so we are all in the same boat.

o   Status: is it a Work in Progress (WIP) or Kit

o   Was it a Guild Workshop/Class project?

·      Hand in your Worksheet(s) to the UFO Coordinator not later than the February meeting.

BE SURE TO SAVE A COPY FOR YOURSELF TO WORK FROM!

If you can’t make the meeting, you can scan/email to info@valleyofthemisquilters.com
